Kava, the “peace plant”, is tropical and a member of the pepper family that is native to the islands of the western Pacific. Pacific Islanders have for centuries used Kava as a ceremonial drink to calm nerves, and help with relaxation. Kava Kava has a strong, sharp and sour taste and is added to teas, tonics and other beverages, often in combination with other herbs and spices to improve flavor. Kava root has received widespread attention for its active compounds that have a relaxing and stress-reducing effect on the central nervous system which aids in reducing anxiety.
