Cumin is an annual member of the parsley family and is used to add color and flavor to a variety of cuisines. It has an unmistakable aroma and flavor that has been described as earthy, nutty, spicy and warm with somewhat bitter undertones. This popular spice is a key flavoring in chili, tamales, various Indian curries, soups, stews, and even bread

and cheese. Cumin is a very popular spice in Indian and Mexican cooking.

Cumin has long been used in traditional medicine and is known for promoting digestion and reducing food-borne infections.
